Charleston artist, Jeannette Cooper Nicholson is on a journey of discovery of self and of art. The artist says, "Painting enlarges my soul. Jeannette believes that Thomas Moore beautifully expressed how she feels about her art when he said in Care of the Soul, "We may get to a point where our external labors and the opus of the soul are one and the same, inseparable. Then the satisfaction of our work will be deep and long lasting, undone neither by failures nor by flashes of success."

The oil painter constantly works to discover ways to interpret her subjects in a way that is personal and will have the viewer wanting to linger for a while. Her paintings are about the beauty and fragility of life. The technique of using layers of transparent pigments to build up color to allow the light to show through gives her paintings a look as soft and delicate as the flowers and other subjects that she portrays.
